I started working in the Marketing and Communications industry back in 2010, and in 2017, after two degrees and seven years experience in the industry, decided to launch Blue Whale Communications.
Just prior to that, in 2016, I was handling all marketing aspects for a national I.T. firm, and that's when I began diving deeper into content marketing. I was instantly hooked, and when I launched Blue Whale I knew that was going to be our focus: helping clients build brand awareness, trust, and relationships with their audience that eventually turn into inbound leads using smart content.
Yup, no more cold calls (or cold DMs, these days).
When I started Blue Whale, while I understood marketing, business and business growth was outside of my realm of expertise. So I listened to those who had been there before, and the two things everyone said I had to do?

👉🏻 Make cold calls to potential clients
Both of these things terrified me, but I gave it a shot because I wanted to be successful.
Cold Calls had a whopping zero percent success rate. The one time I had success at a networking event, I was introduced to someone who immediately said, "oh, Blue Whale - I follow you on Instagram. I've been meaning to reach out because I like your writing style."
My blog, where I was sharing marketing tips, news, and advice, was getting more and more views each month.
My Instagram account was slowly growing, and people were beginning to recognize the Blue Whale name locally.
Most importantly, people were beginning to trust Blue Whale and see me as an expert that could help them with their social media and content marketing.
People were coming to ME, and asking me if I could help them - instead of me having to go out and chase leads. And for the past 5.5 years, that's how I've continued to grow Blue Whale.
Great, organic content that shows our audience they can trust Blue Whale to get the job done.
